Marathon effort from Creightons

We are delighted to receive £4,000 from our friends at Creightons. Staff across the group’s three supermarkets in South Belfast decided to raise funds for Friends of the Cancer Centre and Cancer Fund for Children as the charities are close to the hearts of many of the stores’ employees.

Pauline Elliott, Store Manager at Creightons’ Blacks Road (pictured on the right) kickstarted the fundraising drive back in April with an Easter raffle and her passion for making a difference in her local community was infectious, motivating all her colleagues to get involved. Staff also organised a ‘Bake Off’ competition in all three stores, followed by a fundraising coffee morning, a quiz night, 5-a-side football tournament and finally, Team Creightons had 30 staff members cross the finish line at this year’s Belfast City Marathon.

Pauline said she was immensely proud of every member of the team who helped support the fundraising.

“Seeing the great work carried out by the charities inspired me to take action and I felt so fortunate to have the support of my colleagues to fundraise for these worthy causes. I feel enormously proud of our colleagues and customers for their generosity which has enabled us to donate £4,000 each to Friends of the Cancer Centre and Cancer Fund for Children. We are committed to continuing our support of these wonderful charities and are confident that next year we can surpass this total.”

If you and your colleagues would like to get involved and support Friends of the Cancer Centre by taking part in one of the charity’s events, or holding your own, please contact Ana Wilkinson, corporate fundraising manager at [email protected]
