Joe O’Sullivan takes to the stage at The Duke of York

Professor Joe O’Sullivan, Clinical Director of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, is getting set to take to the stage at The Duke of York in Belfast on Friday, 24th February for a very special gig in aid of Friends of the Cancer Centre.

Joe will be joined by his bandmates Lyn McMullan, Laurence Dugan and John Trinder to play songs from his debut album, Take a Deep Breath, as well as showcase some brand new material.  Joe is very generously donating all proceeds from the gig to Friends of the Cancer Centre and to date he has raised nearly £10,000 for the charity through his music.

Looking ahead to the gig, Joe said:

“I’m really looking forward to the gig at The Duke of York this Friday as it will be the first time we have played the venue and a great opportunity to get in front of a live crowd again.  The album has been doing really well and it seems to have struck a chord with many people, which means a lot to me as the songs are all inspired by my work and my patients.  As well as playing songs from the album on the night, I’ll also be playing some new material and a good mix of covers.

“The night will be extra special for us all money raised from ticket sales will be donated to Friends of the Cancer Centre to support the charity’s amazing work.”

Friends of the Cancer Centre, based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, is one of Northern Ireland’s leading cancer charities.  The charity funds life-saving and life-changing projects within the Cancer Centre in the areas of clinical care, patient comfort and care, and research.  In the last year alone it has invested £1.4 million into the Cancer Centre through projects which make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of thousands of patients locally.

Tickets for Joe’s gig are £10 each and available online here, directly from Friends of the Cancer Centre’s office (ground floor of the Cancer Centre) or at the door on the night.
