Tickled pink by £100,000 donation

Local breast cancer charity, Pretty ‘n’ Pink has helped get 2016 off to a great start with an incredible £100,000 donation to Friends of the Cancer Centre to offer financial support to local women affected by breast cancer.

The money donated by Pretty ‘n’ Pink will be used to support Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Patient Grants Programme which, through the social work team in the Cancer Centre, offers financial support to patients when they need it most.

Welcoming the generous donation, Colleen Shaw, chief executive of Friends of the cancer Centre said:

“Pretty ‘n’ Pink is an incredible charity and we cannot thank them enough for their wonderful support which will help us give a helping hand to thousands of women across Northern Ireland.

“We first started working closely with Pretty ‘n’ Pink when it was established by Noleen Adair in 2006.  Noleen was looking for a really effective way of helping breast cancer patients financially and when she heard about our Patient Grants Programme, which provides financial assistance to patients in need, she approached me to see if we could work together.  Since then the partnership has flourished and to date, Pretty ‘n’ Pink has donated over £420,000 to Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Patient Grants Programme.  We’ve built an incredible relationship with Pretty ‘n’ Pink and I would like to thank all of the people out there who have made a donation as it really has made a difference to the life of someone with cancer.”

Noeleen McErlane from Pretty ‘n’ Pink said:

“At Pretty ‘n’ Pink we aim to provide practical support and to try and make life that little bit easier for breast cancer patients and their families in the best way we can.  Our continued relationship with Friends of the Cancer Centre enables us to reach out to those in need of a helping hand, and we would like to thank Friends of the Cancer Centre for their wonderful support over the last number of years.  We have been blessed by the generosity of the people of Northern Ireland who have made this donation possible, and would like to thank all who have contributed.”

We’re always in need of volunteers to join our fabulous fundraising groups, help at events or in their local community, so if you have time to spare and would like to get involved, please get in touch to find out more.
