GRAHAM - BAM Healthcare Partnership raise £3,000 for Friends of the Cancer Centre

Tuesday, 6 March 2018

GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership has recently raised £6,000 for two charities by hosting its annual golf day. The two charities that received £3,000 each are Belfast City Hospital's chosen charity, Friends of the Cancer Centre, and Ulster Hospital’s nominated charity, the ‘Friends of Kiwoko’ hospital in Uganda.

GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, a joint venture between Co. Down based GRAHAM Construction and BAM Contractors Ltd, delivers strategic healthcare projects on the island of Ireland.

The Partnership was appointed by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust in 2013 to deliver a four-year £261m construction framework at Ulster Hospital in Dundonald and by Belfast Health and Social Care Trust in 2016 to deliver a new £30m Replacement Acute Mental Healthcare Inpatient Facility (RAMHIF) at Belfast City Hospital.

Peter Reavey, Director of GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, discusses the organisation’s on-going efforts to support communities and enhance health care.

“We actively encourage our employees to positively contribute to communities through volunteering and charitable giving. Over 50 golfers from GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Estates and subcontractors took part in our recent annual golf day and they raised an amazing £6,000 for these two very worthy charities."

Friends of the Cancer Centre has a long and proud history of helping local cancer patients across Northern Ireland for over 30 years. Based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, the charity’s life-saving and life-changing work in patient care, patient comfort and research makes a real and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of local people affected by cancer and in the last year alone, Friends of the Cancer Centre has put £1.2 million back into local cancer services.

Thanking GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership for the donation, Ana Wilkinson, Corporate Fundraising Manager from Friends of the Cancer Centre, said:

"A heart-felt thank you to everyone at GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership who was involved in organising the charity golf day and the fantastic donation of £3,000 will benefit those affected by cancer across Northern Ireland.  To give you a sense of how this money could be used, £3,000 could provide an hour of specialist nursing care for 120 cancer patients or it could finance a welcoming cuppa for 12,600 cancer patients and their families attending the Cancer Centre this year. It will make a real difference and we are very grateful to all who contributed."
