This week is Men’s Health Week, celebrated worldwide, aiming to:
- Increase awareness of both mental and physical health
- Support men and boys to engage in healthier lifestyles
- Encourage early detection and treatment of health difficulties in males
Friends of the Cancer Centre is committed to supporting all those affected by cancer, including men, across Northern Ireland. Each year in Northern Ireland, there are over 4,800 men diagnosed with cancer, and staff across cancer services are ready to provide vital care for them.
Thanks to your support, we very proudly fund posts for three nurses who offer specialised care for men affected by prostrate and testicular cancer. Several of the staff supported by the charity work regularly with men affected by cancer, including our Clinical Oncologist, Dietitian, Physical Activity Coach and Complementary Therapists.
