Our board of trustees play a vital role in the charity, ensuring that the money you donate to Friends of the Cancer Centre is put to the best possible use.

Ensuring that our board is effective and focuses on strategic matters is our Chair, and for the past 5 years this vital role has been held by Geoff Hill.  Earlier this year, Geoff’s tenure as Chairman came to an end and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his dedication to Friends of the Cancer Centre.  Throughout his time with the charity, Geoff has overseen many important milestones and he has been instrumental in bringing the charity to where it is today.

Reflecting on his time as Chairman of Friends of the Cancer Centre, Geoff said:

“It has been an honour to be Chair of a charity that means a great deal to not only me, but many families across Northern Ireland. I’ve been able to see the charity grow and it makes me immensely proud that we are now one of the leading cancer charities in Northern Ireland.  Most importantly, our work has grown and with it, we have been able to support more people. This has only been possible thanks to you.  During my time with Friends of the Cancer Centre I’ve been humbled by the support people have shown the charity and how even in the darkest times, people have the ability and kindness to give back and think of others.

“My time on the board of Friends of the Cancer Centre may have come to an end, but the charity will always have my support. Outside of my role as a board member, I’ve been lucky to volunteer with the charity and I am looking forward to this continuing and being part of such a fantastic organisation.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues on the board and send my very best wishes to the new Chair, Brian Cave.  I would also like to thank the charity’s Chief Executive, Colleen Shaw, and the whole team for their dedication to the charity.  Once again, thank you for showing the charity such kindness and I hope, like me, you will continue to be a friend of the charity for many years to come.”

As Geoff steps down, we are delighted to announce that the new Chairman of Friends of the Cancer Centre is Brian Cave and we look forward to introducing you to him in the next edition of the newsletter
