Genesis Crafty responds to ‘kneads’ of Friends of the Cancer Centre

Award winning family owned bakery, Genesis Crafty, have announced their support for local charity, Friends of the Cancer Centre.

The Magherafelt based company hopes to raise over £20,000 to support Friends of the Cancer Centre’s work through a range of fundraising activities which will engage staff and generate awareness of the great work of the charity.  All money raised by the team at Genesis Crafty will directly benefit families living with cancer across Northern Ireland through the life-saving and life-changing work of Friends of the Cancer Centre.

Damian McErlain, Director of Genesis Crafty and one of six brothers who form the management team, explained:

“Genesis Crafty is a family run business, so we feel it is important to support families in our local community. We are really looking forward to our exciting new partnership with Friends of the Cancer Centre. As well as raising awareness of the charity’s work, our staff will have the chance to engage in a variety of fun and rewarding initiatives, designed to support the fantastic work that the organisation is doing, and to raise greater awareness of the challenges faced by people in Northern Ireland who are living with cancer and also their families. Within our team of over 220 staff, we know the impact that cancer can have on peoples’ lives and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the work of Friends of the Cancer Centre as part of our commitment to our local community.”

Friends of the Cancer Centre, based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, is one of the leading cancer charities in Northern Ireland working to support cancer patients and their families through key projects in the areas of clinical care, patient comforts, and research.  Friends of the Cancer Centre is currently funding 35 additional staff in the Cancer Centre, including doctors, nurses and researchers and the charity is committed to raising at least £5 million over the next three years to fund on-going and new projects which will continue to support local cancer patients.
