We are really excited to launch our brand new virtual fundraising event, Friendship Five, with the help of our patron, Iain Henderson. The Ulster and Ireland rugby star is calling on you to join him and help raise £25,000 to fund 1,000 hours of vital nursing care for local people with cancer.
The great news is that Friendship Five is a challenge for all ages and abilities. Simply choose an activity based around the number 5 - so run, walk, cycle, swim or jog 5 miles, then get five of your friends, family or colleagues to take part too. There are no rules (apart from government guidelines on social distancing at this time).
How to take part
Simply register by clicking the Sign Up button below and once we have received your details, we will send you a downloadable fundraising pack with all the information you need to get started.
How your support will make a difference
In recent months COVID-19 has posed significant challenges and like many other organisations, Friends of the Cancer Centre has had to adapt its plans, cancelling or postponing events and finding new ways of fundraising. Despite these challenges, Friends of the Cancer Centre staff have continued their vital work in the most difficult of circumstances, supporting their patients every step of the way. Friends of the Cancer Centre needs your support now, more than ever. We really hope you'll take part in the Friendship Five and every penny will make a big difference to local people impacted by cancer.
Friends of the Cancer Centre funds 11 specialist nurses, supporting local people with different types of cancer. Over the last six months, this fabulous team have contributed over 9,000 hours of care. Every £25 you raise by taking part in the Friendship Five could fund one hour of specialist care.
We suggest a fundraising target of £125 which could fund 5 hours of specialist nursing care. However, we realise that times are difficult and are really grateful for every single donation, so we just ask everyone to raise as much as they can. One of the easiest ways to collect sponsorship is by setting up an online fundraising page through JustGiving or Facebook. These are great ways to fundraise, as you can share details of your challenge with your friends, family and personal contacts and their donations are sent straight to Friends of the Cancer Centre.
