Eating well to stay well

For those living with cancer, having a balanced and healthy diet is important as it can help you maintain a healthy weight, cope better with your treatment and help you in your recovery.  While many people with cancer are now isolating, it’s a great opportunity to plan healthy meals.  To help, Friends of the Cancer Centre’s dietitian has put together a really informative video packed full of top tips on how you can eat well to stay well at home.

Sophie’s tips include how to plan your meals, add nutritious ingredients to make meals go further and advice for patients who might be underweight or losing weight.

In her post, Sophie specialises in providing nutritional care for patients with pancreatic and oesophageal cancer.  Sophie works to educate patients on managing symptoms and implements the E-health system, which allows patients to record and send their weight to the hospital via Bluetooth, reducing the need for hospital visits and admissions.

Check out her top tips below and you can find the recipe book Sophie mentions here.
