Celebrating 40 years of care and support

To mark Friends of the Cancer Centre’s 40th anniversary, we recently welcomed some of our wonderful supporters to the beautiful surroundings of Belfast City Hall for a Night of Celebration.

Thanks to the kind invitation of the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Andrew McCormick, over 100 guests gathered to mark the milestone year for the charity.  On arrival, guests enjoyed a welcome drink courtesy of our friends at NightCap Bartending and Events and their brand partners, Jose Cuervo Tequila, before being welcomed by the host for the night, our patron John Daly.

We were delighted to welcome very special speakers Dr Jackie Clarke, a Consultant Oncologist at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre; Colleen Shaw, Friends of the Cancer Centre’s first Chief Executive, and Ana Wilkinson, our current Chief Executive. We were also delighted to be joined by Sarah Hogg, who shared how Friends of the Cancer Centre supported her when she was diagnosed with cancer at just 16 years old.  Throughout the night, we also had the pleasure of hearing from people who have been supported by the work of the charity, as well as those who have been raising money to ensure our vital work continues.  The night culminated in Belfast City Hall being illuminated yellow, marking 40 years of Friends of the Cancer Centre.

On behalf of everyone at Friends of the Cancer Centre, we would like to thank the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, our host John Daly, all of our speakers and to everyone who attended and helped make our Night of Celebration a night to remember.
